BIODIVERSITY IN KZN

Understanding Our Natural Heritage

KwaZulu-Natal's biodiversity is among the richest in South Africa, spanning diverse ecosystems from montane grasslands and indigenous forests to wetlands, estuaries, and marine environments. Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife monitors and manages this natural heritage through scientific research, species conservation programmes, and protected area management. Our biodiversity work is guided by national and provincial strategies that aim to halt species loss, restore degraded habitats, and build resilience against climate change.
